Growing up, my parents saw my particularity for precise details as a clear sign: this kid should be an architect, or better yet, an engineer.
Naturally, I refused to entertain either option. I knew I wanted to be an artist, but not the starving kind. My artsy mind fought with my pragmatism, and I found myself attending the Creative Circus to become an art director in advertising. But my time at the Circus taught me something I didn’t expect: I didn’t just want to push pixels, I loved the thrill of discovering the proverbial “big idea.” The simple insight that makes everything from a layout to a script actually make sense.
Years later, my love for big ideas has evolved into fostering environments where they thrive. I believe in joking around as the best path to insights, welcoming bad ideas so good ideas aren’t mistakenly turned away at the door, and trying to remember that if you don’t love it while you make it, no one will love it when they see it.
